Since 2012, every October, AWiB the Association of Women in Boldness (same AWiB but new name) has been hosting the Women of Excellence Gala Dinner and Award ceremony.

Since its inception,  AWiB, has celebrated 40 exceptional women at this event.

AWiB celebrates the WOE awards with the intent to develop a culture of appreciation by recognizing iconic women leaders that are positively impacting policies, communities and generations in Ethiopia.

AWiB works to shine the light on Ethiopian women who are forces to reckon with and home grown role models for Ethiopian women and the community at large by recognizing their contribution and documenting their success.

These extraordinary women are nominated by the general public from different walks of life, short-listed by AWiB’s board and celebrated at the annual Gala Dinner. During the event, an independent panel of judges will announce this year’s WOE Titleholder.  This year, AWIB will be celebrating the 7th annual Women of Excellence by honoring five WOE nominees on Sunday, October 28th 2018 at The Sheraton Addis.

The nominees include: Rahel Shawel, a renowned architect, Workinesh Munie a pioneer in starting care for the elderly, Kibra Kebede, an activist working to raise awareness on Parkinson’s Disease through the association she founded, Worknesh Daba is an implementer, making sure work is done with excellence, on community transformation and girls’ education and last but not least Keria Ali who works to enable women to start their own businesses and make their life better through mentorship.
